Are you looking for a sideline job to earn extra money in your spare time? Do you want to try a new field before jumping into it full-time? You’ve come to the right place.
I’m Julie Smith, a woman who wears many hats during the day. I’m an office manager in a small company. I interview job applicants, prepare the new-hire paperwork, prepare work schedules to ensure sufficient coverage, process payroll, order inventory and supplies, and pay the bills. I’ve used these skills, and my love of animals, to earn extra money on the side.
I enjoy general math but never liked geometry. I tutor elementary school students and try to make math visual and concrete rather than a far-away concept. Tutoring usually starts after the first report card in November.
Pet sitting for neighbors and coworkers has brought in a few dollars, not to mention the fun of having a St. Bernard dragging 5’3″ me along for the walk. I’ve talked to parrots, fed tropical fish, played with cats, and chased a runaway guinea pig around an apartment.
I’ve used my experience to start several sidelines. Moreover, I’ve explored different ways of starting a sideline and posted them here on the blog. There’s something for everyone, from academics to trades people.
